I'm sorry: I don't get the why of grainy. I see filters to induce it. And why shoot with her eyes closed here? She already has the shades. Don't you want at least some access? I gather not.

So at least give me a clue about the grainy? I went to the download and it is even more noticeable so it is deliberate.

This was taken at a live fashion show and I was not able to use flash, this meant that I had to set a film speed of 800ASA to get enough shutter speed to stop blur, The result is a lot of grain. So the grain was not deliberate but I do like it, Thanks for the comments, always good to hear what others think, thanks

Understand about high ISO. Love the Canon 5D. I can get quite usable pic at 800 and 1600. I can push to 3200 but the grain is pretty intense. I use NeatImage as a smoother but it does tend to show on some of the shots. Limit to how high you can blow up some of these. Fractal programs can do some remarkable things.

I guess the grain gives it an old time feeling but I do see folks inducing it, too. Go figure. Then again, I go for a painterly look sometimes. It was originally to save pics that were posed well but 1) might have been slightly out of focus, and 2) to disguise two local "models" who did not want to be outed to their families. Both were of age, of course, but neither were really professional (though took the money readily enough.)
